I know, it's been quiet around in this blog. I'm sorry. Thanks to my new job in a new town, I don't have the time or the energy to knit or crochet in the evening. I really miss the time I had for this before. But from Friday on I'm on holiday, so I'll have more time to relax with knitting :)

I forgot to post about the other things I knit the last days.

First a mp3 player cozy. I tweaked the pattern Seamless Nintendo DS lite Sock a bit, made it smaller and with an I-cord attached. The yarn is a leftover from the other cozy, yummy Malabrigo in Red mahagony.

For my niece I knit a smaller version of the Saturday market bag, same yarn but knit in the round an one handle. She loves it :)

Hello again :)

I took some pictures the last weekend and want to show you, what I do in these days.

The beautiful Koolhaas Hat for my Dads birthday, coming up on September 12th. I'm on the third pattern repeat, but I took the picture at the end of the ribbing section. More pictures with better weather (It's raining here like hell!).

Yes, its the soft and beautiful Malabrigo :) You know it from my CPnH.

For a friend of mine, I knit a Henry. The yarn is Regia Silk and soft as Regia wasn't expected to be *hehe* I think, he'll love it.

Schon zum zweiten Mal habe ich in verschiedenen Blogs gelesen, daß
Wollkäufe vor dem Ehemann verheimlicht werden. Mich würde interessieren:
Weiß Euer Mann, welche Menge an Wolle Ihr gehortet habt? Wie schmuggelt
Ihr Neuzugänge ins Haus, und wo sind die geheimen Lager?

Vielen Dank an Martina (die sich ebenfalls als heimliche Sammlerin bezeichnet) für die heutige Frage!

Jaaaa, so ganz genau weiß mein Schatz das nicht, den Großteil schon. Da er aber selbst ein Sammler ist, hab ich immer ein gutes Gegenargument ;)
Meist wenn ich Wolle bestelle, lasse ich sie mir in die Firma schicken. Oder zur Packstation. Ich bin aber meist eh vor meinem Schatz da, und kann dann in meinen großen Vorratskisten die Wolle verstecken. Aber eigentlich ist das eher selten der Fall, er ist ja auch so ein Schatz, dass er mir Wolle kauft, die ich unbedingt haben möchte und mir das nötige Kleingeld fehlt Y

Yesterday we went to the Sauerlacher Dult to buy some Wollmeise yarn and it was such a great weather, that we took pictures of my CPnH.

Here you are:

I wasn't able to buy lace yarn from her, but I bought some really great sock yarn!
I had to cast on my first skein yesterday evening, the colorway is Poison No. 5

It's a black and deep purple colorway and I knit Bellatrix socks with them. (Sorry, no link because the site is down due to the death of the designer.)

mich würde mal interessieren, wie und wo die Lace-Strickerinnen ihre
fertigen filigranen Strickstücke aufspannen. Bei Spannweiten von bis zu
2,40cm findet sich doch nicht überall Platz, oder?

Tja, das weiß ich auch noch nicht so genau, ich habe überlegt mir von Schwiegerpapa in spe einen Spannrahmen bauen zu lassen, ähnlich dieser Seidenmalereirahmen, dann kann ich das Strickstück hochkant hinstellen. Auf unseren paar Quadratmetern würd das nix werden mit Auslegen, ich hab mit den Pullis schon Probleme und spann die auf Styroporplatten, die ich auf den Wäscheständer lege. Mal schauen, wann ich ihn damit überfallen kann ;)

New FOs and WIP updates

Hey there!
I just wanted to let you know, what I did since my last update:

I finished the big body part of my Central Park Hoodie. Between this will be a non-hoodie version, I don't really like hoodies and for work, the more non-sportic version will be better ;) Photos later, when I block it. The second arm is already cast on!

On Wednesday, the first clue for the Mystic Light KAL was posted and I really, really love the design. I finished the first clue yesterday:

The picture was taken at the Ultra Comix, the gamers store in Nuremberg city.

From the swatch, I made a pulse warmer:

The yarn is soooo soft! Cherry Tree Hill Supersock Merino in Blueberry Hill.
I bought it from socktopus. They are really customer friendly!

I finally finished my Gilmore Vest (sorry for the blurry picture):

I had little problems with the armholes, they were too small, but I was able to fix it. It fits great and I'll take pictures as soon as I steamed my blouse ;)

For my sisters birthday I knit a hat:

Hello knitters!
I finally got through my last exams and I hope these are the last for my life ;) So now, there is enough time for browsing all the pretty knitting sites and blogs and also for knitting and listening to podcasts. I'm not that good on writing in English, but I try my very best!

Here are some FOs from the time since my last post.

First I finished my Rebecca sweater. I loved to knit it, but it turned out too small for my boobs and has a way too large neckline. The arms are too big. I think, I'll put it in the frog pond. I'm so gutted about it, I never want to see it again. Bye bye sweater!

Next one is a sweet little hat for the goddaughter of my boyfriend. She was born on January 29th and we visited her on Sunday. I didn't finish the babyblanket yet and I really wanted to bring a gift, so this was done in one evening.

I turned out too big for her, but she is very small so it'll fit a bit longer ;)

My new toy was brought to me by Santa aka beloved boyfriend and I don't want it to be scratched. I had some leftovers from my Column Of Leaves Hat and made a cozy:

My Column Of Leaves Scarf is waiting on the needles to be finished, it is now about 120cm/ 48" long

It'll be very pretty when blocked and finished!

I started with my Central Park Hoodie some days ago, I finished one arm and am now waiting for my Options cables, mine are too short to knit the fronts and the back in one piece.

I knitted it in the round, I hate seaming ;) (says the seamstress )
Again, the yarn is Malabrigo yarn worsted, purchased at Jürgen Weidner.

I ordered Kilcarra Aran Tweed via ebay, and this is what I got. I think it's the biggest skein I ever received:

250g of great Irish yarn. I ordered it for the Tweedy Vest (beware pdf!) I cast on last night. I need a vest for work.
This is the gauge swatch, thank God, it softened a bit after washing!

The ball was so huge, I never thought it would fit the winder:

Ah! I forgot! I joined Hat Attack! It's a kill or be killed by my knitting competition (similar to sock wars). I think, It'll be fun! I can use yarn from my stash, so it's ok.

Booty Club and Knitting update

OMG! I did it, I joined the Booty Club just a second ago (3-month-subscription). It's a little Christmas gift to me, for the work for my etsy shop and my diploma thesis I hopefully finish at the end of the year. Can't wait to receive the first package in mid January!

So the last couple of days I finished some WIPs:

The Huckleberry Ascot (Interweave Knits Issue Holidays 2007) for my sister for Christmas

Matching Periwinkle Beret out of the same yarn

and the yoga socks *beware pdf!* for her

The Galaxy Socks for my cop

and started new ones, with the gorgeous yarn from my SP11 Sandy who also has an etsy-shop

They are in simple 4st/5row basket weave pattern, but I love them!

I finished the father socks, but they turned out way too big, maybe I rip 'em out or sell them on etsy.

Ok, I think this is enough. I'm glad I'm done with all the christmas knitting and enjoy the last days of my diploma thesis *haha*

wäre es möglich, dass Du an einem Dienstag vielleicht einmal fragst, ob es einen Trick oder ein Hilfsmittel gibt, um festzustellen, wie lang der Faden für den Maschenanschlag sein muss (damit man nicht immer 20 Maschen vor Ende feststellen muss, dass er nicht reicht ;-))

I jump on the bandwagon, here is my WOYNW (What's on your needles Wednesday).

1) Lattice cami (the rightmost)
I hate it. I'll only finish this to free the needles and to begin with my Rebecca sweater. The yarn is splitting so much. Ugh!

2) Something new: Yoga socks (beware: pdf!)
I make these for my sister as a christmas present. I hope she'll like it :)
Yarn is Lana Grossa Meilenweit 100 special in blue. So nice to knit with!

3)The second kolenya matching the first one made with knit picks andean treasure in Mystery Heather
It's getting cold outside.

Recently jumped off the needles:
priwinkle beret in Gedifra Sportlife and I love, love, love it! So soft yarn and fits great! Pictures soon with better weather.

boyfriend socks in Regia Royal Color: I don't know why, but they turned out too wide and way too long for my father. I think, I'm gonna rip em out, I can't stand a non-perfect object.

...I'm so bad in writing topics :)

Not much to write, I'm alone at home because my honey has to work at the Oktoberfest (he is a police officer) and won't be back before 3am. Much time for reading blogs and knitting!

I finished the periwinkle beret today, its now laying to dry and I take some photos tomorrow. It turned out really gorgeous, I don't know if its the right thing for me. Maybe my sweetheart knows ;) Its made with Gedifra Sportlife (was on sale for 2€/50g at Karstadt Nuremberg), I used 1 and a half balls. I search for fitting mittens/fingerless gloves and a scarf. But first I have to finish the socks for my dad. The pattern on the cuff is boring me, I hope to finish them tonight. Gilmore Girls rule! Nothing is better for knitting (besides the lime&violet podcast).

Before beginning with the Rebecca sweater I'll have to finish the lattice cami (the rightmost one) that sits on the requiered needles. Did I mention that I hate the yarn it's knitted with? The Wolle Roedel Panda ist so $&/$%§"! It splits so much and there are so many cables and p2tog to do, I'll hate the cami. Maybe someone wants to have it?

guinea piggies!!! squee

We are piggieparents! I waited so long to be a mom of a guinea pig and one more time, ist my sweet boy, who makes a dream come true. We own two dearest piggies! Jonathan und Sid. Jonathan (named after the frontman of the band Korn Jonathan Davies) is Markus' pig and mine is Sid. Yes, because of Ice Age :) They are still very little and fit in one hand. The coat is so soft! Both do have different characters, Jonathan is a beefpig and mutters a lot while Sid is more the hidingpig who creeps in every chink he finds. As we turn off the light in the evening there is more than one hour running in rounds and making noises :) I’ve written enough, here are the pics:

Oh my, I placed an order for knitpicks over 130$! My CC burns and screams. But, soon is my birthday and I give it to myself as a present :) But I'm not that bad to hold it all by myself, I also ordered something for my SP. *phew*
I knit only a bit, so no WIP-photos. But I'll post them as soon as the WIPs are finished!

I bought the new issue of Rebecca last weekend and fell in love with this sweater #28:

It calls for ggh-Samson, but I decided, that Lana Grossas Bingo is the same. The nice woman at the shop told me about the substitute, so I don't have to wait for the yarn package. It's very soft and I love it by now!
I'm gonna knit it a bit longer, I don't want my kidneys to get cold in fall.

*cough* Yes, I finished the dress. After killing the 60cm zipper, I threw the dress into the closet and never wanted to see it again!
But we are/were invited to two weddings this year, so I had to finish it after more than a half year. And I think, it doesn't look too bad. Sadly, I didn't already get the pictures from the couple, they took an the wedding, where you can see more of me in the dress, but here is a little teaser:

The brink you see under the neck line is only appearing on the dress form, I don't know why.

From the side, including the purse.

The pursehandel and the chain are mady by Prym, the border from the local fabric store and the fabric is a little rest of the fabric from the dress. I found the pattern in an old burda, lucky me. I really needed a noble purse to fit the dress, so why not make one by myself?

I'm working on the fathersocks, my first try on knitting two socks on two circs toe up! It's coming out great and really fast!

Yesterday, I did a bit of dyeing, my first try ever and with the Kool-Aid® I ordered weeks ago:

Today evening I'm gonna wind it up and rehank it. Pictures tomorrow cause I need help from my boyfriend to hold it :)
It'll be a self-striping yarn in grape-blackberry-strawberry every three rows. I hope it looks great!

I love all wool, especially the merino ones. And alpaca. I don't like 100% acrylic

I knit since December 2006. My soon-to-be MIL taught me how to knit socks. My skill level is intermediate.

All the flourish things, especially rose and patchouli. Also all the fruity things, like melon, strawberry, etc.

wristwarmers and Addi turbos

Today I practiced my skills in fair isle or stranded color. I thought my fingers had to break :) But after a lot of practicing, it worked. Yay me for doing 2x2 rib in 2 colours!

Can you see the background? Its the lime&violet blog, and I listen to the podcast everytime I knit! Its very much fun to listen to!

Therefore I bought 2 Addi turbos in 2,5mm/80cm. OMG! I will never give them away! So smooth and flexible! Thanks for giving the hint! Also to do some Zokni Socks on two circs, end of the second sock curse!

And I finished a skull wristwarmer for my boy:

A little bit too big for me, but it has to fit him :)

It's now drying on a bottle, which I use to block it *g*
I hope he'll like it.

And today my swift arrived, I'm so excited! It works well and soon, I'm gonna reskein everything *ggg*

On the internet I found a substitude for cascade 220 in Germany, its Drops desings Alaska, I'm gonna use it for a felted knitting tote. (It's not that I don't have enough bags ;) ) Cascade is a bit too expensive in Germany.

But first I have to finish the second monkey sock, maybe I do it with the Addis! I fell in love! Addi = ©

baby eyelet socks

Last week, I finished my baby eyelet socks from designated knitter. They are for the daughter of a friend of us.

yarn: Schachenmayr nomotta Timmi (needed 18g)
needles: 2,25mm/US1 DPNs
size: 7-12 month
time: about 3 hours each
They were done so fast, its amazing! Hope they fit and the parents will like them!

My monkey socks grow, I now knit the last rows of the turn heel, the rest will be finished quickly. I'm so excited, how they look an my feet, wearing a skirt and nice shoes :)

I listened yesterday to the podcast #3 from the knitters uncensored while I was doing things for the studies and laughted out loud, it was so much fun!

Also this yarncutter and the most beautiful knitting bag I have ever seen: Satchel in deep red. My honey added the bag to his favourite links ;) He is such a good boy!

So, here is mine!
Not really much, but it grows B-)

First some rests :) Up is the rest of my clapotis, Noro silk garden = ♥ The others are rests of cotton blend yarn I used for the hokie healing squares.

I foud these on sale for -50% so I had to buy them :) Gedifra yarns with 49% new wool and 51% acrylic. So soft!

A buy from ebay, all Assuan from Schewe, mercerized cotton yarn.

Some other rests, upper left is Tommy from Schachenmeyer, its for babyclothings. Lower left shows rest of black Regia cotton sock yarn, I knitted socks for my boyfried! Right beside of it, Regia sock yarn 100% wool, the rest of my first sock in grey shades. Above the rest of the Gedifra, beneath 2 rests of my potholders, 100% cotton from schoeller&stahl, Record 210. And on the lower right, some frogged Micro Cablé from schoeller&stahl, 100% acrylic.

Some sock yarn from Regia for a Jolly Roger head band and on the right cotton yarn for the ballband dishcloth.

On the left the micro cablé, I have more of them, but don't know where :) on the right, my oldest UFO (6 month now), my first socks on my favourite DPNs: Prym bamboo

Last but not least, also from sale: yummy yarn with acrylic and mohair!

Hey all, here is my second hokie healing square. I sent them both today and hope they'll arrive in time :)

Its made from black cottonblend yarn, the same as the first was made of. Knitted in a few hours and my first cables! Yay!

My new bamboo needles are shipped today, maybe in a week they'll arrive. I'm so excited!

I now knit the scarf from the Irish hiking scarf knitalong. A really easy pattern, seems to be made for yarn from my stash. It's micro cablé from schoeller&stahl, colour 23. Its 100% aclylic, but very soft and cushy. I use the knit-cables-without-cable needle-technique and it works!

Here are the pictures of my clapotis. Its already before blocking, I have to decide wether I wash it and let it dry or to pin it and lay wet cloth on it and let it dry. I prefer washing, but I don't really know.

It shows nearly the colorway.

Here is the finnished Saturday Market Bag in lilac:

It is 30cm/12" wide and 30cm/12" long.

And a detailphoto of the lace:

It was fun and really easy to make!

At least, my finished calorimetry from December, I think:

The yarn is Gedifra Fashion Trend surprise in colour 4483, 51% New Wool, 49%Acrylic.
Very soft yarn!

Yay, I finished my clapotis last Monday, but had no time to block it. Pictures will follow!
But here are some pitures, my boyfriend made of me last Sunday on the german Kotei of Legend of the Five Rings in Nuremberg:

The clap is really awesome, tomorrow, I got the time to block it and show some photos. My camera doesn't take very good pictures, so I have to wait until there is enough light outside.

The last needles are ordered from ebay, now I have enough bambooneddles. Every size, every length, every type.

For my mommy' mother's day I knit a Saturday market bag with some changes from this post on blogspot.
I use a cotton yarn, Assuan from Schewe in lilac. The body is already knit, now I do the straps.

english WIP part 3 and new arrivals

My clapotis grows! Take a look:

The lower edge is 120cm/47" long, the upper one 80cm/31". I nearly finished the straight rows and soon I can begin with the decrease rows :)

Today, one package arrived. What will be in it? Its from China:

Will this be my new bamboo knitting needles?

Yay, the DPNs and

the circs.
The DPNs are from US 0-5 and the circs from US0-15, length is 100cm/39". How great and smooth the cables are! They are made out of flexible plastic tubes, what a great idea! I fell in love :)

I had to try them, so I began knitting for the hokies:

The yarn is Lana Grossa Multicot, 60% cotton and 40% Microfiber (Acrylic). The pattern is an easy double pearl sample. I do it the first time and its great!
I'd do one more in black, maybe in single pearl.

Sunday, I bought the actual knit.1 and vogueknitting at the central station. The magazines are so great! Lots of infos and techniques, also american yarn markets, etc. So I had to buy some more in an onlineshop, soon some backissue mags like interweave and knit.1 will arrive. Can't wait!

Ich werde auch mitmachen. Auch wenn ich eigentlich nichts damit zu tun habe und ich auch eigentlich keinen dort kenne. Einfach Anteilnahme. und die Idee ist toll. Wäre ich Mom oder Dad, ich würde mich tierisch freuen, dass jemand an mich denkt!

Stricken auf englisch... WIP Teil2

Hallo Ihr Süßen,

ich komme langsam aber sicher mit meinem Schal voran. Eher langsam, was allerdings nicht an meinen Strickkünsten, sondern eher an der fehlenden Zeit liegt. Ich befasse mich ja auch ganz gerne mal mit Nähen ;) Ach ja, und studieren muß ich ja auch noch *hust* (Dabei kann man in den Vorlesungen so gut nebenbei Stricken *flöt*)

Also, hier nun der Fortschritt:

Mit den Zunahmereihen bin ich fertig, habe gerade den Knick gestrickt (also die rechte Ecke, wo die geraden Reihen anfangen) und meine erste Masche fallen gelassen. Ich hatte richtig schiß :) Aber es hat funktioniert!

Auf dem Foto sieht man die Ecke rechts.
Nach und nach fallen dann die nächsten Laufmaschen. Und die Wolle ist wirklich herrlich kuschelig!

Ich versuche mich dann mal in Englisch.

Hey Ladies,

slowly but surely the wrap is growing. More slowly, not because of my knitting artistry, but because of the lack in time. Also I like to sew ;) And of course, I also have to do something for my studies *cough* (In the lecture it's easy to follow and knit :) )

So, here is the progress:

I finished the increasing lines, did the corner and let the first stitch fall down. I was afraid of doing this, but it worked!

On the picture, you can see the corner in the upper right.
On and on, the stitches will fall. And the yarn is so smooth!

Ich hab mich für mein neues Projekt entschieden: Clapotis
Das Englisch ist nicht schwer, man muß sich bloß mit ein paar neuen Techniken vertraut machen.
Und so weit bin ich schon:

Das Lineal ist 20cm lang. Da wo die Markierer sitzen, laufen später die Fallmaschen lang :)

Wolle: Noro Silk Garden Farbe 234 (auf der Karte der zweite Verlauf links oben)
Nadeln: Prym Rundsticknadel 5mm
Zeit bisher: ca. 5 Stunden

I decided what to do next: Clapotis
The English isn't that hard, but you have to familiarize yourself with some special techniques.
That is the progress:

The ruler counts 20cm (8''). The markers take place, where the stitches will fall :)

needles: Prym Circ 5mm /US 8
Time: about 5 hours

Wollt Ihr sehen, was ich gestern abend gemacht habe? Ich hab mir nach dem Happy Hooker Buch Häkeln beigebracht und gleich mal nen potholder angefangen:

Den mache ich noch zu ende, aussenrum ne schwarze Umrandung und die Schlaufe.
Der zweite wird dann genau andersherum von den Farben.

Ich habe mir zu den bestandenen Prüfungen gestern noch was schönes gegönnt:

Am Wochenende war der Kater ja weg zum Kartenspielen in Essen, also habe ich die Zeit genutzt und gestrickt wie ne Irre :) Ich hab an den Fingern schon Blasen *g*, ich hätte nie gedacht, dass das geht.

Die eine Socke ist schon zu 3/4 fertig, fehlt ein Teil des Fußes und die Spitze, aber das geht noch schnell in der Mittagspause und heute abend, wenn der Kater beim Zocken ist. Morgen Nachmittag sticke ich dann das Logo auf. Leider dauerts doch länger als erwartet, also bekommt er erstmal nur eine Socke, die andere reiche ich dann nach. Leider komm ich wegen des Jobs nicht schneller voran und wenn er da ist, will ich ja nicht auch noch daran arbeiten. Er weiß ja noch nichts von seinem Glück :)

On the weekend, my sweetheart was in Essen to play at a TCG-tournament an I used the time to knit like an idiot :) I got blebs on my fingers *grin*, I never thought, that could happen.
The first sock is now on ¾, a part of the foot is missing and the tip, but that will fast be knit in the lunchbreak and in the evening, when my sweetie is in the Gameshop. Tomorrow afternoon I’m gonna stitch the logo on it. It takes more time then expected, so he only gets one sock from me, the other one later. Because of my new job, it takes so long and I don’t want to work on it, when he is here, it’s a surprise!

Nen bisschen dunkler als auf dem Bild. Davon 4 Bälle. Und nochmal 4 in ganz schwarz *g*
Waren von 4,80€ auf 2€ runtergesetzt. Da konnte ich nicht dran vorbeigehen :)
